SO...we went on a SCAVENGER HUNT. I learned about this last year and we were going to do one but then I broke my leg (again with the leg). Anyway... we decided to try again and signed up for the City Hunts-Find the Egg and had a blast! We started at the Muny and along with 38 other teams were given an envelope with clues to six colored eggs around St. Louis City and County. We could not open our envelope until the game began and quickly mapped out our route. You could go in any order you wanted so we started at the "Blue" sushi place in U.City and then headed up to Olive and Fee Fee to the "Pink" Galleon. After that it was to West County Mall and "Orange" Julius were the team had to buy and drink a shake. Then to "Green" Tree park in Kirkwood and then "White" Cliff Park were two team members had to do an egg toss. The last egg place was hidden in a "Yellow" cab in the Deer Creek Parking lot.
Inside each plastic egg was a wooden cube with letters stamped on and a clue cube that gave the order in which to arrange the letters. Any egg stop along the way if the final "Black" egg had been found they would tell you the game was over. So when we got our last egg and were told to go on we were SURE we were going to win. The cubes spelled out FARMER-MARKET-VENDOR-JULIAS so we headed to Soulard Market where there is a "Black" Bear bakery. Upon on arrival and mad dash out of the car we noticed a few other teams had beat us and the pointed to the group of "Eggsplorers" who had already claimed the prize. Even though we didn't win the $500 we were pretty proud of ourselves for making it all the way through! There was also an after party at Tower Grove Park and since the event was sponsored by Natural Light there was plenty of free beer and good stories to go around. Better luck next time gang...did I hear there is a Red Pumpkin Hunt in October using black lights?
